German Brainstorm were headlining this evening at The Rock, with had such a small turn-out not even the whole band was there. Missing was their guitarist, Torsten Ihlenfeld. He was sadly out due to illness, and was for this show replaced by Tom Neumann, I heard someone call him.
Torsten wasn't the only one sick this night either. Also Andy B. Franck, vocals, was feeling a bit under the weather, saying he had the flu.

This was the first time I've seen Brainstorm, and I had only heard a very limited selection of songs before the show, so I hadn't really had much time to get into it. Sad to say, the show did not leave enough of an impact on me to feel an urgent need to do so afterwards either.
The cause of this could, of course, be all the sickness going round, and needless to say the band was not operating on a full capacity. They did their best, new bassist Antonio Ieva making the biggest impression, but what I feel was the most impressive about the show was probably the fact that they decided to perform it at all, taking all their problems in account. Andy also apologised several times, and promised a 2+ hour show next time they came back, only playing fan requested songs. This will be interesting to see.

Brainstorm had prepared a long, 18 track setlist, but they had to strike several of the songs for Andy's sake. At first End In Sorrow, Painside, The Leading, Shadowland and Under Lights were taken out, but to Andy's credit they decided at a last minute to at least put Under Lights back in, even getting a little sing-a-long going. After this they rounded it all up with All Those Words.
